Reprioritizing my creative life
When I got sick at the start of October, I reflected about my social media activities going forward. Since I got tired of checking my socials, I decided to focus on various things outside of my creative pursuits (mainly self-care, remote work, and general life stuff).
Now that I recovered from the flu, I contemplated about my future creative plans for my socials. I was unsure if I should focus on digital art or writing. Although I can still pursue the former, I think that I need to lessen my drawing activities significantly. So, that leaves room for the latter, which is a mainstay on my Mastodon feed. Given my busy schedule as an adult, I feel like writing is a more efficient and accessible hobby than drawing.
Although I find social media as a good source of inspiration, I feel like it becomes less interesting and more problematic than before. While I am seeing less negativity on my feeds, I am trying my best to ignore them and move on. That does not mean I am completely abandoning my hobby-related socials. I just want to spend less time on lurking across those realms and be more intentional with my presence there.1
For now, I actually want to catch up on my creative backlog. I will still make some self-paced personal projects in the future, but I will post about them here on Bear Blog instead of social media.
For example: I visit Mastodon to check some hashtags dedicated to writing prompts (such as #wss366 and #WordWeavers). I can write a one-shot involving my characters or answer a time-bound question, respectively. While I do not promise any daily activity there, I try my best to keep a somewhat regular presence in the Fediverse.↩
